What Is Biosound Healing Therapy?
Biosound healing therapy is a technique that addiction specialists and therapists use to treat alcohol and substance abuse as well as a range of other mental health issues. In a biosound therapy session, the client lies down in a specially designed chair and is covered with a blanket. They are then exposed to a range of vibrations in a sequence of particular patterns. The patterns are experienced by the client both visually and somatically — they both see and feel these patterns. The result of exposure to these patterns is a state of deep relaxation; it slows down the central nervous system and the heart rate. This allows clinicians to better treat not only alcohol use disorder, but also the mental and physical problems that so often accompany it, like anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
The technique itself has a long and fascinating history. In Australia more than 40,000 years ago, Aboriginal people discovered that the sounds produced by specific musical instruments could be soothing to the mind and body, and so they began to use them in their rituals. As time went on, Ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Tibetan Monks, the Hindu peoples, and other groups begin to embrace the technique. The basic premise — that syncing of the brain and body with rhythmic impulses — is relatively simple. The technology at our disposal in the 21st century, however, has allowed us to use biosound healing therapy in these new and innovative ways.
